about
Hazel HAyes
As a writer myself, I understand what it feels like to LOVE writing and HATE writing at the exact same time.
Trust me, you’re not broken, you’re not bad at it, you’re not permanently blocked, and you haven’t written your last good sentence!
These are all thoughts I’ve had at some point, but I’ve learned to befriend the blank page and keep my creativity alive in spite of my fear.
And I want to help you do the same!
That’s why I’ve created this writing community to help you overcome writer’s block, connect with other writers around the world, and get the advice, support, tips, tools, guidance, community and accountability you need to not only start writing again, but to ENJOY writing again!
Whether you write for fun or for publication, whether you write poetry or prose, songs or screenplays, whether you’re an experienced writer or just starting out, Write to Yourself is for absolutely everyone.

what is the write to yourself community?
Write to Yourself is designed to address the most common obstacles and challenges that writers face; to take your biggest sticking point, and help you get unstuck, all while having a bit of fun! So, do you need?
INSPIRATION?
We’ll send you daily mixed media prompts, or you can join our monthly Prompt Call for live, quick-fire prompts with Hazel.
MOTIVATION?
Well, we have a monthly Writing Competition where the winner gets a £20 book voucher AND has their work featured on Hazel’s socials.
FEEDBACK?
Post your work to The Forum, for feedback from Hazel and other writers in your community. Or join the monthly Writing Workshop where you can read your work and get live feedback.
COMMUNITY?
Writing can be very lonely, we get that, so come along to The Coffee Shop where we write alongside each other, or chat with other writers in The Den.
RESOURCES?
Then swing by The Library, where we post our favourite books, essays, podcasts and more on writing and creativity. Or check out our community-led Global TBR Pile!
OPPORTUNITIES?
The Notice Board is full of Lit Mags currently accepting submissions, as well as other writing contests, prizes and job vacancies.
GUIDANCE?
Who better to help guide you on your writing journey that a writer who really gets it? Hazel offers advice based on years of writing everything from short stories and poems to screenplays and two Penguin published books!
